It's the Simple Things is a collection of the adventures and experiences of an American living in Switzerland, then readjusting to life in the US. It is a collection of places explored, people met, and lessons learned.
My passion for travel started with a trip to Peru in 2005 and has expanded to 6 continents and 25 countries. I became obsessed with trying new things and pushing the boundaries.
Through my travels I’ve learned everything from the joy of spinach and mushrooms to the exhilaration that comes from getting to know people who were previously strangers. Stepping outside of what’s comfortable is never easy, but the more you do it, the further you find you can go.
Traveling solo to Australia in the summer of 2011 convinced me that occasional travel was no longer enough to satiate my curiosity. I started looking into living and teaching abroad, and I moved to Switzerland in 2012 to work at an international school. After two years I said goodbye to the Alps to continue my adventures at home in Washington, DC.
